How your body is driving your behaviour without you even knowing it

We are shaped by our environment – not just in how we consciously think, but also in our unconscious patterns of sensing, feeling, and relating held in our bodies.

So, if you’re working hard on your personal development, but you still don’t see the change you want in yourself or in your behaviour – its time you take a look at the unconscious patterns ALSO held in your body.

Your body holds onto the experiences of your past that impact you in your present

And here are 3 reasons why:

1. Your body holds onto the experiences of your past that impact you in your present

Your body composition, sensations and emotions are shaped around what helped you survive best in your family and environment. Your early experience set up an unconscious blueprint of the body and keeps you relating to the whole world in the way you related to your family and environment.

In the areas that your environment was a healthy model for how to be in the world, you would have likely learned and developed in a way that allows you to respond appropriately day to day (and you might even feel pretty damn good about that). In the ways that your development was blocked in your environment (even if it was well intended), you are likely to experience a sense of struggle, tension and/or discomfort.

So, we need to work with the body directly to unpack some of these unconscious patterns and release them for you to be able to respond appropriate day to day in the areas that are challenging for you.

What helped us before might be hurting us now

2. What helped us before might be hurting us now

Patterns and behaviours that we learn both consciously and unconsciously, usually worked at some point. If a behaviour got a positive affirmation or prevented pain in the past, it usually gets set to repeat and becomes part of your ‘normal’. However, things can go off track when you’re stuck on repeat and are on autopilot instead of really responding to the situation at hand.

Most people choose to try to shift the current behaviour by working with the rational mind, but don’t address the root cause of the issue – the unconscious pattern held in the body.

Instead you can choose to FEEL and release the past so you can respond in a self-affirming way in the present – without tension, without overcontrol, without forcing yourself.

Resolve the past and move with more ease in the present and into your future.

Life can feel unfair when you aren’t aware of the unconscious patterns influencing our life

3. Life can feel unfair when you aren’t aware of the unconscious patterns influencing our life

When we aren’t aware of how our unconscious affects us and how we relate to others, it often feels like we are being dealt a bad hand in life in a particular area. It can feel confusing, frustrating and hopeless.

As you make the unconscious more conscious, a whole world of possibility begins to open… what a relief!
