Case StudyFlow Eating

Jaz

Jaz’s  journey through FlowEating is a powerful example of the program’s potential to transform one’s relationship with food, body image, and self-worth. Before joining FlowEating, Jaz faced long-standing patterns of restrictive eating, bingeing, and self-criticism around her body. Through FlowEating’s holistic and compassionate approach, Jaz broke free from these cycles and found a more fulfilling, self-accepting way forward.

The Problem

Before FlowEating, Jaz had made significant strides in healing from a history of extreme dieting, bingeing, purging, and drastic weight fluctuations. Psychologists and dieticians helped her reduce these behaviours, yet they still resurfaced “in waves under stress.” Jaz continued to struggle with intense highs and lows about her body image and eating, describing it as “going through periods of hating my body and thinking I’m disgusting and then periods of thinking I’m super hot and awesome in a really conflated and unhealthy way.”

With a desire to “eat right,” Jaz found herself overwhelmed by conflicting dietary information.

“There was just an over saturation of information without knowing what was right for me to the point that I distrusted everything completely. It was really exhausting and expensive and was taking all my energy to try and figure it out’.

Why they chose CoreExploreOnline

Jaz sensed there were unresolved aspects of her relationship with food and her body. “I was really interested to explore it from a Core Energetics perspective,” she said. “Core Energetics has changed my life, so I figured it would support me in this area too.” Her intuition proved right, as FlowEating provided an approach that finally resonated on a deep level.

Anchor Your Intention

Week 1

Jaz wanted to feel less stressed and confused around her relationship with eating and her body. She wanted to be able to ‘engage with food in a way that’s more joyful. I wanted to be able to cook more and not get overwhelmed by ingredients, recipes and making it nutritionally perfect’.

Through refining her intention, Jaz realised that she was using ‘food as a way to control my body, my life and the way others perceive and feel about me’. ‘It sunk in a different way that my stuff around eating actually stopped me from being present with life.’ Jaz refined her true intention to be – ‘I want to be more present to life, and allow more life to reach me’.

Awareness & Uncovery

Weeks 2 - 5

‘I found week 2 learning about the conscious and unconscious so impactful for me’. Jaz began to realise how much of her behaviour was driven by unconscious fears and that her internal world was ‘trapped in the past’.

The first few weeks were ‘really helped me understand more of the forces, beliefs and feelings I had swirling around that weren’t serving me!’. In week 5, ‘it all clicked at how much I was reacting in the present as if threats from my past were still happening, even though people in my life now would never treat me the way I was treated in the past’.

Even though Jaz had a lot of experience and knowledge around eating, weight and body image, somehow she felt like ‘it finally landed somehow’. ‘Before, I was receiving information, but I managed to wrap it through this lens of my past experience’. ‘It was really helpful to understand in a new way why my relationship with food, life and my body was the way it was’. Jaz began to open to ‘honouring my body’s needs as a practice of self-care and self-respect’.

Body Connection

Weeks 6 - 7

FlowEating allowed Jaz to ‘really strengthen the observer part of myself’. This helped her to observe her body’s experience of eating in a new way without judgement. ‘Exploring when I would eat and stop eating based on the hunger scale helped me to see the general unconscious patterns in my choices. I was eating the way I thought I ‘supposed to’, not based on what my body really needed’.

“I came to realise I didn’t allow myself all the food that I needed to actually nourish my body. It really sunk in that I was binging because I was obviously starving and needed more food! Once I started listening to my hunger and fullness cues, my anxiety eased. I experienced calm. FlowEating helped me realise I was causing anxiety by not eating enough!”

Transformative Action

Weeks 8 - 12

FlowEating gave Jaz practical tools to manage stress, emotions, and energy.

Nervous system:

Learning about my nervous system was a huge shift. I realised I get stuck in a cycle of stress, which affects my eating. Now I know how to self-soothe and move out of activated states.”

Emotions: Jaz’s nervous system and feelings were closely linked.

“I used to feel I was living in a restricted or mean world, but I realised thought FlowEating it was my internal world that was restricted and mean! I’m now better at allowing feelings and calming my nervous system, even during big emotions”

Energy: FlowEating helped Jaz recognise the toll of trying to please others.

“I felt like I looked great sometimes, but I had no energy – I was barely living. Now I nourish myself properly through food, movement, good relationships and rest. I have SO MUCH more energy for sport, the gym, and life.”

Jaz’s Transformation

Through FlowEating, Jaz experienced profound changes in her relationship with food, her body, and her approach to life.

This course was actually life changing. It helped me take a comprehensive look at SO MANY of the factors that influenced my relationship with eating and my body. So many things shifted constantly throughout’.

Emotional shifts

FlowEating helped Jaz release damaging beliefs and find acceptance within herself. “I’ve realised I am lovable, no matter my body shape. I feel so much better, and I’m clear on what I want for myself.” Jaz now embraces her true self and the relationships around her, saying, “I feel more loving towards myself and others. I’m more focused on love than on judging.”

Physical benefits

Jaz experienced a renewed connection with her body, feeling grounded and energised.

“I feel pleasure and heaps of energy in my body. I can’t believe I feel like one of those people just living life in a body and eating. I thought that wasn’t possible for me.”

Mental and cognitive growth

The program helped Jaz unravel conflicting dietary advice and emotional triggers, clarifying what works for her.

“It was all a tangled mess, and FlowEating helped me sort through it and understand it. Now I know what choices I can make nutritionally and how they feel for me, and how the past affects my choices.”

Empowerment and self-confidence

Jaz now embraces an inner confidence. “I’ve got so much of my life back. I was performing who I thought I should be; now, I don’t care as much about others’ expectations.” She feels empowered to shape her life from within: “I feel empowered, without unanswered questions. I’m creating a world where I can show up as myself.”

Community and support

The FlowEating community provided a safe space for growth. “It was great being supported by others who also want a better relationship with food and body,” she said. Feedback from the group helped Jaz embrace positive feedback: “I feel so much softer in myself, and I can let in positive feedback when it comes to me”.

Long term gains

Reflecting on the program, Jaz now feels rooted in her values and needs. “I was spending so much on supplements that weren’t working because they weren’t made for me. FlowEating put me in the driver’s seat of my healing, helping me filter my experiences and know exactly what I need.” Jaz is also learning to accept herself as she is, saying, “I’m no longer chasing a false ideal. I’m living from who I really am.”

Future hopes

Looking ahead, Jaz is excited to nourish her body intuitively.

“I’m more focused on how my body feels and giving it what it needs, rather than controlling it to look a certain way. I now feel more loving towards all bodies—even my own.”

Thank you to Jaz for sharing your journey with FlowEating so generously and courageously.
